Going nuts here trying to get ready to leave again to go back down to some sunshine. Got the tree and all the Christmas decorations down today. Practically have to hog-tie my husband to get him to come back up to Alaska at this time of year because of the dark. When we got here, it was -20 with a wind chill of -31. Thank goodness it's warmed up now to about 15-20 above. We'll go back down to AZ and stay til the end of February. Have to come home then for the birth of our second grandchild. My son (the youngest) works on the oil fields up near Prudhoe Bay and since he has to be gone 2 weeks at a time, I wanted to be here the last few weeks just in case his wife needed assistance with anything. Yeah, living here is quite an adventure. It's definitely home now, and I doubt I'll ever leave for good. There's not a single time I leave the house that I don't see something so beautiful it takes the breath away. I love the mountains, the rivers and the wildlife. I do my share of salmon and halibut fishing and also hunting for caribou. For some reason, I haven't gone moose hunting yet. A few health problems are making the hunting more difficult, but I can still go fishing, thank goodness! Used to spend a lot of time going snowmobiling, but traveling has cut that a bit short now. Up where our cabin is, the ice doesn't go out of the lake til July, so there's great spring snowmobiling there.
